Information we collect

You may use most of JPXWatch without creating an account. We collect personal information when you choose to create an account, use the My Home feature, or contact us.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use JPXWatch, we may collect:

• Email address: We collect your email address when you create an account or contact us.
• Home address: We collect your home address, or an address you provide, when you use the My Home feature. We use it to determine your location on the map so that we can show flight activity and estimated noise near your home. When you enter an address, it is sent to our mapping provider (Mapbox) to convert it into map coordinates. This address is not displayed publicly.
• Communications: If you contact us or send feedback, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.
• Authentication information: We process the technical account and session information necessary to sign you in and keep your account secure.

Providing a home address is optional, but the My Home feature cannot provide personalized local information without it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit or use JPXWatch, we may collect:

• Server and security logs: Our hosting and infrastructure providers may generate logs containing information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, request date and time, and diagnostic or security information.
• Usage analytics: We use cookieless analytics to understand how JPXWatch is used. This may include pages viewed, referring site, approximate geographic area, browser, operating system, and device type. This analytics information is aggregated and is not associated with an identified individual.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts;
• Provide the My Home feature;
• Show flight activity and estimated noise near a saved home location;
• Send necessary authentication, security, account, and service-related messages;
• Respond to questions, feedback, and other communications;
• Understand how JPXWatch is used;
• Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the site;
• Detect or prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems; and
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

Cookies and browser storage

JPXWatch does not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

We may use functional browser storage, such as local storage, or other storage necessary to authenticate your account, keep you signed in, maintain security, and remember your preferences and settings.

We use Vercel Web Analytics for cookieless, aggregated website analytics. We do not intentionally provide names, email addresses, home addresses, or other account information to Vercel Web Analytics.

Advertising

JPXWatch does not display third-party advertising on the site, and we do not allow third-party advertising networks to track visitors through JPXWatch.

We may promote JPXWatch through advertisements displayed on other websites. We do not track your activity across unrelated websites or build an advertising profile about you.

How we disclose information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

We use a limited number of service providers to operate JPXWatch. These providers may process information on our behalf only as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and support their services:

• Vercel: Website hosting and cookieless usage analytics;
• Supabase: Database services and account authentication;
• Resend: Email delivery; and
• Mapbox: Mapping and address look-up (geocoding). When you enter an address or view the map, that address and the corresponding map location are sent to Mapbox to convert the address into coordinates and to display the map.

We may also disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

• Comply with a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, or other legal process;
• Investigate fraud, abuse, or a security incident;
• Enforce our terms or protect our legal rights;
• Protect the safety, rights, and integrity of JPXWatch, its users, or others; or
• Complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or transfer of the service.

Your choices

Account deletion

You may delete your account by visiting the Account page while signed in and selecting Delete My Account.

Deleting your account will remove your account and My Home information from our active systems. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups, server or security logs, email-delivery records, or records we are legally required to retain.

Access and correction

You may review or update your available account and My Home information through your account settings. You may also contact us at hello@jpxwatch.org with any questions or requests regarding your personal information.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request involving personal information.

Data retention

We retain your account and My Home information while your account remains active. We delete that information from our active systems when you delete your account or after we complete a verified deletion request, subject to limited legal, security, and operational exceptions.

Analytics information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to understand and improve JPXWatch.

Server logs, security records, email-delivery records, and backup copies may be retained for limited periods for operational, security, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.

Do Not Track and cross-site tracking

JPXWatch does not track your activity across unrelated websites for behavioral advertising purposes. Because JPXWatch does not engage in this type of tracking, the site does not currently respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

No payment information

JPXWatch is free to use. We do not charge users for the service and do not collect payment-card or other payment information.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the information we hold.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

JPXWatch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to JPXWatch, contact us at hello@jpxwatch.org so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice periodically. When we do, we will post the revised notice on this page and update the effective date above.

If a change materially affects how we use previously collected personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate, such as by email or through a notice on the site.
